I.M. Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, Beaches Community Healthcare - A Sulzbacher Clinic

An extension of downtown Jacksonville's widely successful Sulzbacher Center for the Homeless, Beaches Community Healthcare (Beaches) received an Honorable Mention and $25,000 during The Blue Foundation for a Healthy Florida Sapphire Award presentation. Beaches provides access to basic medical care to the homeless and uninsured working poor populations of Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches. In addition to onsite services, Beaches' "HOPE Team" reaches out to homeless populations living in unsheltered locations to deliver prescriptions, basic medical supplies, clothing and personal hygiene products and to transport them to clinics, and, if they are willing, to shelter.

In the first quarter of 2009, Beaches provided 636 primary health services for 395 people and connected eligible clients to patient assistance medication valued at $7,552.
